I first conceptualized this shot in June 2014, when I first started Nightscape Astrophotography. The first panorama with a specific composition that I envisioned in my head. The Waxing Crescent Moon setting between Sugarloaf Rock with the Milky Way just above. A shot that is only possible 2 weeks in the year.
I have been to Sugarloaf Rock every year since 2014 in attempts to capture this scene. Bad weather, cloud cover, other photographers and poor planning resulted in failure 3 years in a row. On the 4th year, September 2018, I saw an opportunity to capture a scene that has become somewhat of an obsession.
An amalgamation of everything I've learnt in my career as a Nightscape Astrophotographer, this shot, to me, is my most significant. Planning, understanding, perseverance, persistence and, most importantly, good luck have finally allowed me to put this scene to rest.
I have finally captured the first composition I ever dreamt of.

That’s very amazing, and I am impressed with your perseverance. Sometimes you have to go above and beyond and stick to what you want, to get what you want. Very nice work here.
