I am a regular visitor to Makoko which is inhabited, in the majority, by Egun people. The Egun people originate from Badagry, the former slave trade port, and Benin Republic. I am a member of The Nigerian Field Society who offer financial support to a number of projects being run in the community not least the primary school and maternity clinic. In addition the Community has been fighting a long drawn out court case for their right to remain, which, I am happy to report has been found in their favour.Editing

Makoko has a story all of its own to tell. I guess the only advice I could offer is that folk should not only look for places of interest but also believe in what they are trying to achieve with their photography in those places
