Livio, please do not think me rude, but to me the word "nice" in describing an image is so empty of any meaning. Tell the person what it is exactly that is nice about the image please. It is my least favourite word related to describing a photographic image. Sincerely no offence intended.

Oh Carolyn, I get a lot of comment like that, I know lots of photographers have a lot to do like me so sometimes when I comment great----means it is great image. hahaha. When I became active in Natgeo for almost 2 years I know the difference, there they are urging us to discuss things. But it will really takes time. So when I was active there means I am not active here in Viewbug because time consuming really.

In hindsight being on NGYS was a huge vortex of my time especially when it comes to writing. Thank you for all your time spent commenting on my images Gigi. I have hardly picked up my camera since NGYS folded.

Location
Photographers can't give away their best locations. However I am willing to share that it is north of Bandon Beach on the Oregon coast of course!Time
We started shooting before the light faded. So pre-sunset.Lighting
Well we had hoped for a fantastic sunset but Mother Nature did not hear our invocation. In fact it was a rather insipid sky. Which worked out very well especially in black and white leaving the full focus on the pattern of the sea skirt.Equipment
Tripod Giotto Camera: Panasonic DMC-G6 Focal Length: 7 mm Shutter Speed: 1/5 sec Aperture: f/22 We used neutral density filters and polarizers. ISO: 160Inspiration
We had challenged ourselves to go out into the freezing cold Oregon coastal waters and try and capture interesting lines and designs. The incoming tide was incredibly powerful. I relied on my tripod to steady myself several times. Both incoming and outgoing tides were equally interesting in terms of subject matter. I intentionally used my wide angle lens to give the viewer that inclusive feeling.Editing
This was originally created in color. I converted it in Photoshop using a filter from Nik Silver Effects, probably "wet rocks" (no pun intended)! I did lighten the edging of the sea skirt to emphasis the lovely natural curve I had captured. In my camera bag
Well to many things to even begin enumerating! Let's just say I don't travel light! One of my favorite items though is my Hoodman HoodLoupe Outdoor LCD Viewfinder! I can check my LCD screen in the brightest of light. I wouldn't be without it!Feedback
The reality is you will shoot hundreds of frames. Few will be worthy of keeping. So it takes immense patience. I do recommend a very wide angle lens, warm socks and gear that will keep you dry. Check the tide tables to plan the optimum time to head into the ocean!
