Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the marsh of the cenajo, Hellín, Murcia (spain). I had never seen this picture. Exploring by google maps I was looking for something ineteranste in an area with very little light pollution and I saw the shape of the river that I found very interesting.

Time

This photo was taken at 3 am, we were three friends and we had never been there, we arrived at night and we had to walk thirty minutes to reach the specific point. The road was mountainous, very dangerous because we were right next to a precipice.

Lighting

Due to the great darkness that there was the only solution was to make two exhibitions. the first was to capture the imposing milky way before it moved (5 vertical photos of 20 seconds with ISO 6,400) and once captured the 6 vertical photos of the ground tended a different exposure of 2 minutes per photo with an iso of 1,600.

Equipment

I used my only tripod, the aluminum Rollei C5i, the camera was my Canon EOS 6D mark II (excellent for night shots) and the lens my sigma 14mm 1.8 Art

Inspiration

When I saw in Google maps the shape of the river I had a heartbeat, I checked with photopills that the Milky Way was located perfectly, and without thinking we went to an unknown place at night, when this is done sometimes it is won and almost always it is lost :)

Editing

Processing starts in Lightroom with some basic settings and the rest in photoshop. Always process the sky and the earth in separate layers since they need a different treatment, always maintaining the same temperatures.

In my camera bag

Because I've only been a year amateur photography, my mistake is not very long. I have the Canon EOS 6D Mark II, the sigma 14mm 1.8 art, the Canon 24-105 that came with the camera, a Canon 50mm 1.4 and a basic 75-300.

Feedback

For night photography I always try to have the photos overexposed to be able to lower exposure and thus not generate noise. Do not try to see the finished photo in the camera, this takes you to take out the dark photo and when you want to upload the exhibition you will be filled with noise.
