I took this photo at a little league baseball park in Houston, Texas.Time
The photo was taken late in the afternoon or early in the evening.Lighting
Nothing special about the lighting.Equipment
I shot this photo with a Nikon D1H camera and a 300mm lensInspiration
When I first started shooting professionally I took photos for a local little league in a suburb of Houston, Texas. I would shoot two or three days during the week and usually two games each evening. This was one of my favorite photos from the hundreds of photos I took.Editing
I usually always sharpen my images and add some contrast. In the case of this photo, I also applied a filter in photoshop to get this affect. In my camera bag
I have switched to Canon equipment since I took this photo. When I am shooting inside, I use a 200mm f2.8 zoom lens. For my outside photos, football, baseball, soccer, I shoot with my 300mm f2.8 lens.Feedback
It really helps to know the sport you are shooting so you can anticipate the action. When shooting baseball, if there is a player on first base, position yourself so you can get a good shot of a play at second base. If there is a runner on third base, make sure you have a clear shot at home plate. With a good lens you can shoot through the fencing of most baseball parks without any noticeable deterioration in the sharpness of the photo.
