This was taken at my former studio in Clinton MA, using the bedroom set that was there.Time
This was taken several years ago, so I don't remember details, though I think it was midafternoonLighting
Front light was a PCB Einstein through a large softbox, backlight is natural window lightEquipment
I believe this was shot with my D300, though it could have been a D7100. Lit as mentioned above.Inspiration
This was my first time working with Shelley, and it was a vintage pin up shoot. I don't remember details, but I do know that was a real smile, I had said something that made her laugh.Editing
Lots, I couldn't tell you the details. I no longer really process photos quite this way but there's a whole lot of contrast and masking going on here. Then the B&W conversion. In my camera bag
Nowadays I use a D850, typically with a Tamron 24/70 f2.8 or Nikon 70-200 f2.8. I have two PCB Einsteins, but more recently I've been using a Flashpoint Xplor 600 quite a bit. I also have several Yongnuo small strobes for backlighting, fill etc. Vanguard tripod with a pistol grip head.Feedback
Honestly, I don't remember much about this, but there was nothing special about it. Lighting from camera left, backlight from a large window. What makes the photo is Shelley and that amazing smile. A great model is 80% of the photo, in my opinion, and they don't get much better than her. My largest vote getting and most awarded photo on here is also of Shelley.
