Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Almonte, Ontario, Canada. The fall foliage was at its peak and the river was very smooth that day.

Time

It was a beautiful fall day and the late day sunshine and shadows added to the fall colours. I took this shot at 5 pm.

Lighting

The late fall day sunlight added a nice warm glow to the shot and amplified the shadows, all of which set off the Fall colours.

Equipment

I took this shot with my old Canon Rebel XT with a Sigma EX 10-20 mm f4-5.6 lens. Hand held.

Inspiration

I just love the fall colours and the water's reflection. I also found the angle of the shoreline and the blue sky interesting.

Editing

I usually do some adjusting of exposure, detail and saturation - I do not have exact record of how I handled this shot.

In my camera bag

After my recent purchase of a Sony RX 10 Mod lll, I find that more I use it, the more I like it. I also still carry my Canon T2i with the Sigma 10-20.

Feedback

I am self taught and my best advice is to take lots of shots and experiment and go with what works for you. There are many solutions and the ones that don't work out are learning experiences.
