Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Canyon Creek during my family trip to Alaska

Time

This photo was taken during midday, As I traveled with little kids, I had limited amount of time for photographing whenever I wanted. Forget about sunsets and sunrises. Just be grateful for what you have and make the best of it.

Lighting

Even though this photo was taken at midday, rainy weather added dramatic look to the scenery.

Equipment

Canon 6D camera with 24-105 f/4 lens and tripod.

Inspiration

Alaskan wilderness is unique. It is dynamic, remote, and challenging land of spectacular scenic beauty

Editing

Any landscape photo requires some amount of post-processing. This turns good photo to a WOW photo. In this case, I used lightroom with Nik collection extension

In my camera bag

Canon 6D camera with tripod (must) and 16-35 f/2.8 or 24-105 f/4 lenses, remote control and an ND filter

Feedback

Alaska is the heaven for landscape photographer. Do some homework - make a google search for desired location. Arrive there in advance. Take a walk and feel the place. Just walk and breathe, forget about camera for a while. The further you go from the popular spot the more authentic you photo will look. The moment you feel you can't contain the beauty anymore stop ant take out your camera If you're lucky, you'll have perfect lighting on the first try. If not - come back again. And again
