Location
This Milky Way photo was taken on the very first attempt for Galaxy shoot... at a very well known spot at Cape Greco, Cyprus. We were going from one location to the other, while waiting for the clouds to clear out with my photo-buddy, who talked me into it.Time
Shot of-course after midnight, in June of 2016.Lighting
In "incoming" streaks of light to the right are from the headlights of cars coming up the hill from the sea just a few hundred meters away, from another well known spot, the Cape Greco Sea Caves. The light pollution to the left comes from a French Radar base!Equipment
I used a Nikon D600 (Full Frame DSLR), a Samyang 14mm F2.8 lens and of-course a tripod (Vanguard) and cable release. EXIF data: 14mm / F2.8 / 20sec. / ISO 1250...Inspiration
We were going from one location to the other around Cape Greco, while waiting for the clouds to clear out with my photo-buddy... I tried to compose this shot using the leading lines of the "walkway" to the Tree and the MW streaking above it...Editing
This is a one shot photo edited in LR with limited knowledge of MW editing... Wished I had taken more of foreground at lower ISO to combat the high ISO noise...In my camera bag
For night photography I carry my wide to ultra wide lenses... Cable Release and my Nikon D610 (now, D600 at the time this photo was taken). For day shoots I also carry filters and a telephoto lens. The Tripod is always in the car.Feedback
My advice to others is to just get out and shoot... Practice, practice, practice! Explore new locations...Go with friends and take the time to also enjoy the night sky while waiting for that perfect moment when all elements "come in place", be it luck or planning.
