This photo was taken at the Bay of Plenty (Toi-Ohomai) PolytechTime
It was about 7pm,Lighting
The lighting was a constant light set upEquipment
I was using a Canon 70D and hand held. The lights were a constant light with the source being on a stand.Inspiration
The photo was part of a photography class I was doing . I knew the subject (bass player from Psychoclasm) and had shot them before. I wanted to get an image where he was mid headswinging as i have seen so many times before .Editing
I deepened the shadows, added some clarification and noise, turned the photo black and white to add some character and gritIn my camera bag
My Canon70D, 35mm sigma art, 50mm Canon 1.4, Tamron 70-300mm and my speedlight. I also carry with me two foam core boards (these sit in my car) ones white and ones black, for negative fill and reflectingFeedback
Take your time, don't be afraid to ask the subject to do what you want them to do. Obviously if at a gig its different but most metal bands love their photos taken. Make sure you shoot over 2.8 in aperture and don't be afraid of uping the ISO up to get better speed on your shutter
