I took this picture in my kitchen. It is actually our dog's drinking bowl which had just been refilled with water and the cat realised she could see herself. Couldn't believe my luck when she just sat there long enough for me to grab my camera and get the photo.Time
Taken at about 5 o'clock which is dinner time for my pets. A time when my furry friend is usually sleeping!Lighting
There were no special circumstances or lighting for this photo. Just plain old good day light from my kitchen window!Equipment
I can't remember if I used flash or not when taking this but probably not. I try to avoid using a flash when photographing my pets. I find that the flash distorts the colour of their furry and it doesn't come out life-like. I used my Nikon D3100 just with the 18-55mm lens focused at 45mm for the photo.Inspiration
Always on the lookout for cute pictures of my animals. Beauty being in the eye of the beholder, I just can't resist a cute pose! Just thought it was unusual to see such a perfect reflection in the water as she is usually playing with it so it's never still!Editing
No post-processing required! Unfortunately I am not a huge fan of Photoshop although I do use it to change stuff to black and white and crop. I have to admit I think the challenge is in taking the perfect photo without any help. Unfortunately for me at the moment that isn't helping me win any challenges or competitions but I think the challenge is to just get better and step up mark by sharpening your skills. In my camera bag
My Nikon D3100 with lenses 18-55mm and 55-200mm. This is usually all that I need although more and more often I am wanting a more powerful and better quality zoom lens. Think I am getting more demanding about my photos as I learn more and more and see so many wonder perfect photos taken by all the other photographers on the site.Feedback
Just keep a look out all the time and keep your camera with you. It's not always convenient but I remember reading somewhere on Viewbug that another photographer recommended taking your camera everywhere as you never know. Also with the beauty of digital cameras they recommended that you take dozens of photos of the anything and everything and you just never know when you will find something special. Often I get home thinking there might not anything interesting and find something which I like which was unexpected.
