Karakorum is Mongolia's old capital (during 13th-15th Century). The Erdene Zuu Monastery is probably the earliest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. Couldn't believe my luck when the sun set right there - centre stage - through the gap above the western wall's gate.
