Thanks so much! I've got this one hanging on my wall. :-)

Behind The Lens

Location

West Beach, Adelaide, South Australia.

Time

Sunset on a summer's night.

Lighting

Of course, the sunset was an inspiration in itself and the reflections on the water as it washed up on the beach created a great backdrop for this piece of action.

Equipment

I used a Sony A7 with a 28-70mm lens. No tripod here. And as I was going for the silhouette effect I didn't use flash.

Inspiration

It's always fun taking family and kids to the beach on a warm summers night. And when the weather's just right and the sun is setting, there's plenty to inspire a budding photographer. Plus, when it's your own children playing in such a setting, it's hard to resist snapping away.

Editing

Yes, I did my post-processing in Lightroom adjusting some of the basic settings (temperature, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, blacks, and clarity) to get the feel of the picture just right.

In my camera bag

Not much besides the camera, lens and extra batteries!

Feedback

Get caught up in the moment and adjust your position to create a more interesting photo while being prepared with the optimum exposure settings.
