Fantastic capture.... I found myself looking at it for ages and I don't really know why, maybe just trying to be included in their activities. Good job

Wonderful composition. Love the way the girls' legs are
reflected in the water, almost making them look like stork legs at first glance.
Tells a sweet story also.

Location
Nungwi Beach, Zanzibar.Time
Late afternoon.Lighting
I used natural light for this shot and was very lucky that the late afternoon light was casting attractive glints and glimmers on the beach at the time.Equipment
Canon 6D. 24-105mm lens. Handheld.Inspiration
I had been walking up and down the beach all afternoon exploring my new surroundings, having only arrived that day and was just enjoying people watching. I found these two girls particularly interesting as they were doing the usual kid thing of exploring and finding things to show to each other. When they stood face to face like this with the reflection of their legs in the shallows I wanted to capture the moment as it reminded me of my childhood holidays of searching for shells. My own nostalgia definitely played a part in this shot!Editing
The post processing was fairly minimal aside from the usual tweaks on contrast, sharpening etc. I didn't want to detract too much from what I had seen in front of my lens that day.In my camera bag
I now usually have my Canon 6D, my go-to 24-105mm lens and my 100-400mm telephoto one (mainly for safaris) as well as the usual cleaning cloths and copious amount of batteries and SD cards (can never have enough!).Feedback
Street photography (or beach, in this instance) is one of those unpredictable things where it's hard to give advice on how to capture a similar image because of the unknowns and uncontrollable factors of not using posed models. But what I would say is with environmental portraiture, like this, having or seeing a moment and feeling something from it (whether it be nostalgia or something else) definitely helps! A lot of people have commented that they also feel nostalgic viewing this image, so hopefully I managed to convey this. After all, if you as the photographer don't feel something for an image, how can you expect somebody else to?!
