Location
This photo was taken at the rooftop of my friend's building in São Paulo, Brazil.Time
We had all afternoon to shoot, but only a few minutes after we started, the wind picked up and it started to rain, so we had to seek cover and move to the second look, which was this one.Lighting
It was a cloudy, windy day, and since it had started raining, we had to move under an awning, with the natural light coming camera left and some bouncing off a white wall camera right.Equipment
I used a Canon 6D with a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 lens at 100mm, wide open and 1/250 sec.Inspiration
It's a classic look, something I have always wanted to try. When I met this model, it was a no brainer: it was time!Editing
Yes, other than the obvious conversion to black and white, I did some contrast adjustments, dodge and burning, and some cleaning up of the background, since there was a little rail there that I found distracting. In my camera bag
Canon 6D, Sigma 15mm fisheye f/2.8, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, Canon 50mm f/1.8, Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8.Feedback
The advice I can give is not to rush anything. Conditions many times won't be ideal, and we have to know how to keep the calm and deal with it. And specifically for this type of shot, the model must feel comfortable, and you have to really check your composition for any detail that might be out of place. It makes all the difference!
