Behind The Lens

Location

Argentina. Buenos Aires. Ecological Reserve of San Isidro.

Time

During the morning, near noon.

Lighting

Due to the leafy trees of the reserve, the plants were almost in shadow. For that reason, and not having carried tripod, I had to illuminate with a flash and diffuser.

Equipment

Canon EOS REBEL T3i Canon 18-55 IS + Special ring + Canon 55-250 IS Yes, two lenses. One of them inverted with a special ring.

Inspiration

It was the first time I did macro photography and the first time I used the technique of attaching two lenses to make this type of photography. It was all new, and I took lots of pictures.

Editing

Yes, I played a little dim the lights (the flash was very direct), and I applied a bit of darkness to the edges to highlight what I thought was the beauty of the photo.

In my camera bag

Everything I can carry, every each of my lenses, difuser, flash, batteries, filters, even solar filters ... at night... Yes.. not to bright of me..

Feedback

To be brutally honest, I do not think I'm capable of explaining how the use of this technique is. But basically you need two lenses and a step down ring (or step up ring) of the thread sizes of both lenses. That is, if you have a lens with 77mm thread and another lens with 55mm thread, you should look for a step down ring 77-55mm. Use high apertures of the diaphragm on both lenses. Keep in mind that if the lens is aperture regulated by the camera (non-manual) the lens must be placed in the camera, select the aperture you want and without turning the camera off, disconnect the lens to maintain the aperture. Connect both, and start playing with the distances and focus of the lens.
