Location
Down in Motala, right next to lake Vattern in Sweden.Time
Just at sunrise, round about 8am.Lighting
It was perfect and only lasted around 20mins. The sun was in just the right position with the fog through the trees for such a short time before the fog lifted and the sun got too high.Equipment
Nikon D600 with a sigma 17-35mm and circular polarizer.Inspiration
Driving to work and saw this beautiful scene, with the fog rolling in off the lake on a snowy winter morning. All the elements were so perfectly aligned that no self respecting photographer could avoid taking a shot in this. I spent 20 frantic minutes running around trying to find just the right light and composition before everything changed.Editing
Very little in this one actually. Colour correction with curves, a little sharpening and increasing the contrast. In my camera bag
Nikon D600, Speedlight, Ray Flash, Nikkor 50mm 1.8, Sigma 17-35mm. Lots of batteries and memory cards, and some cleaning equipment and remote triggers for the flash.Feedback
This was a case of a lucky shot. Being in the right place at the right time, and doing everything I could to make the most of such a stunning morning. The fog was creating beautiful shafts of light, and so this was a case a case of finding the right framing for them. Using the tree to block out the sun made them radiate outwards and fill the frame.
