At the South Lakes Zoo Cumbria before all the controversy. It was a mid-week and not too many people about. so we had free range of the zoo .The family had just gone on the mini train and I had stayed behind when one of the grandchildren shouted," ring tail Lima's." so I spun around and shot one picture. Would of liked to have been a bit further away but I had to seize the moment as the Lima's were moving left to right and the shot made them look like they were moving down the lineTime
We got to the zoo around dinner time .had a light lunch and set off to find the mini train as it was pretty full I let them go thinking I would have a quiet time and stroll around the Zoo . but being lunch time the Lima's move towards the lunch area.Lighting
The lighting was very good at mid day the sun over head not to cloudy it stayed good all day.Equipment
Out with the family so kit was at a minimum . I took my Nikon D 5100 camera and a kit lens 18/55mm & my 55/200mm a spare memory card and a battery grip for two battery's and a mono pod light and quick to use.Inspiration
I am always on the look out for that picture that is different or opportunistic .being lucky helps . Right place right time . In the past I have missed a good shot by not having the right lens on. An air balloon in a field drifting along I grabbed my camera and yes the wrong lens on and the balloon went into the mist gone.Editing
Just lifted the light on the computer and a small crop .Would of liked to have more room at the top of the picture but the moment did not allow me the time to adjust. In my camera bag
I use a small bag with only cleaning kit, two lens, spare memory card and battery's. some filters when out with the family, it's easier to carry.Feedback
Try to go to a place mid week to avoid crowds, it's easier to find a quiet spot . Feeding time is good .be patient and try different angles. Hot days might keep the animals indoors.
