Location
I took this picture on my Canon eos 400d with a standard kit lens 18-5mm, this was at the station yard in Malmesbury Wiltshire on the river avon.Time
The time of day was early afternoon, I had enjoyed a pleasant walk around the river walk in Malmesbury, I took this freehand with no aids as such.Lighting
I find that lighting is always key to producing great images. So timing can be everything. Like in this image I used the sun to create the reflection from the water.Equipment
Canon eos 400 d Canon 18-55mm efsInspiration
This is one of my favourite images that I have taken, I was inspired by the swans them selves very friendly and they quite happily let me sit and take their pictures for half an hour. I love taking pictures of swans I find it so calming.Editing
I use lightroom to edit pictures, I used a basic monochrome filter for this image and liked the outcome. I use monochrome on a lot of images now due to the detail it shows, I find color can deflect from the detail. In my camera bag
Normally I carry my Canon eos 40 d Canon eos 400 d and my Canon eos 600 d with 18-55mm Canon 70-30mm tamaron uv filter nd filter tripod and monopod.Feedback
The only advice I can offer is take your time, don't rush anything, and make sure that your shot is timed perfectly, I used to just point and shoot, but I learnt very quickly that placement and timing was everything. If your the patient photographer this is an ideal image to attempt.
