I am not from the area, this is from one of my visits there. Hence, thanks for the name I can associate with this wonderful man. He stood out heads and shoulders over other performers for me.

Behind The Lens

Location

Photo have been taken on the street in downtown New Orleans.

Time

Taken about noon.

Lighting

Natural lighting.

Equipment

Film camera Sigma SA300, Sigma28mm-200mm f 3.5/5.6 lens.

Inspiration

Street performer impressed me with his deep emotion and I attempted to capture that feeling so defining of the New Orleans itself. I have not known that at the time but the man whose emotional portrait I have captured is one of the most famous New Orleans performers, glad that I have documented him as well.

Editing

Film have been scanned by me with Plustek OpticFilm 7500i, minimal Photoshop touch-up of film-scanning artifacts/damages. Cropped.

In my camera bag

Most times I carry Nikon D600 and Nikon 20mm f2.8 and Nikon 85mm f1.8. Sometimes I do Infrared photography. In that case for film camera I carry Fujica ST701 with 28mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8 and 85mm f2.0 lenses or modified Sigma SD9 with 28-200mm f3.5/5.6 and 17-35mm f2.8/4 lenses for digital IR. Finally, for slow version of street photography I sometime use medium format film camera Bronica ETRSi with 50mm f2.8, 75mm f2.8 and 150mm f3.5 lenses.

Feedback

Look for not only light and shapes but emotion, photos capturing that not only work but convey more than light and shapes.
