A Japanese proverb - See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil is literally an instruction to avoid bad behavior. However, this expression is now often used to mean to ignore bad behavior by pretending not to hear or see it.
It may also be interpreted as a call for discretion or willful ignorance. Often used as a playful way to convey a laughing, disbelieving, cringing I can't believe what I'm seeing! or I can't bear to look!

See no evil and etc. could be simply a way of life that refuses to get engaged in the gossip level of human interaction. Even the concept of 'evil' snags the mind into a certain way of seeing the world and reacting to it.

Hi Bill - that's a good point! It could also br understood to fit into today's conterculture or \"woke\" movement - wherein some are calling good evil and evil good. It depends on your world view perhaps - not everyone has the same standards or outlook on life - so the idea of what is good or evil has a wide range of interpretation 🙈🙉🙊! 😀
