Behind The Lens

Location

Took this photo on Dartmoor England.

Time

We were on a hike near Buckfast Abbey and then on to Dartmoor in May of 1992. Think it was the middle of the day.

Lighting

The light was "spattered and dappled " by the heavy foliage and the recesses in the trees.

Equipment

At that time I was using an old Minolta 700 and shooting slide film...any slide film that I could find available. Never thought that far ahead as to what I might need to carry with me!

Inspiration

Loved the deep greens, the rocks, the knarled trees, the hidden pathways, and the sunken pathways. All contributed to making this a somewhat magical spot!.

Editing

Had to. It was an old slide. Scanned it and then post-processed it with whatever I could...photoshop, elements and Luminar. Wish that I could remember all the steps.

In my camera bag

Whatever I could afford to carry, Now because of age it is mainly a Sony 6000 and a light tripod or monopod.

Feedback

Watch for and focus on the light. I am now visually impaired, actually "legally blind" with no peripheral vision, which means I stumble a lot because I do not look down enough and I concentrate on the light. I try not to "take a photo of something", I try to take a photo of the light on something. And I listen to my stomach!
