Location
This photo was taken at my niece's high school tennis facility.Time
We got really lucky with the weather for this picture. We arrived to the facility around 9am right as the rain stopped. The wet court and the cloudy sky really made for a dramatic image.Lighting
This was a simple one light setup. I used a 24 inch soft box and a speed light just to make her pop out from the already cool naturally lit sky.Equipment
This was shot on my Sony A7 iii with a Tamron 17-28mm 2.8 lens. I used one speed light attached to a 24 inch soft box set about 3 feet away from her to make her stand out against the dramatic sky and clouds.Inspiration
My niece herself was my inspiration for this photo. She is a total bad ass playing on the varsity tennis team as a freshman. Her attitude and confidence make the image.Editing
All post processing of this image was done in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I cleaned up the image and did primary color corrections in Lightroom as well as crop. Then I take the image into Photoshop do the rest of the minor corrections and tweaks like removing light poles from the background. In my camera bag
The equipment in my camera bag changes with every shoot. If I am doing portraits I will take some speedlights, a refelector, my 70-200mm 2.8 and almost always take my 50mm 1.4 lens. If I am shooting landscapes, I ditch the flashes and will add my wide angle lens, my tripod and maybe an intervalometer for some time lapse photography. You always have to be flexible for what the situation requires.Feedback
My only advice is to try to be flexible for what the environment gives you. Plan ahead and be ready for anything that might pop up like too much sun, or wind and rain. Remember to never give up and always continue to push the creative envelope.
