I look at your portraits, and in my opinion you should shoot with full aperture, to create a bokeh effect that enhance the subject. If you are working with an half frame camera with full frame lenses, it's time to change the lenses or to buy a full frame canera. The great masterpiece were made with large format film, and the main problems of digital is the loss in bokeh: everything is in focus :(
