This photo was taken on a visit to the Warner Bros Studio tour in Watford, England. Many may recognise the proclamations from the fifth Harry Potter movie.Time
When I visited, the your was open from 10am until late evening, I would always recommend visiting attractions like this one in the first time slot of the day to avoid crowds. The last time slot can also be a worthwhile gamble as the attraction could be extremely quiet or if it was a busy day, massively delayed.Lighting
As the tour is majority indoors, there is no natural light to compose with, only atmospheric lighting, leading to a more moody look here.Equipment
I am a big fan of Canon and used a 5D Mark ii with 70mm-200mm lens.Inspiration
There is so much to see and photograph at the Studio Tour and I strive to find something original and unique in every photo. Instead of trying to fit every proclamation into the image, by zooming in and focusing on the middle few, it gives the impression of endless rules, reflecting the themes of the film.Editing
As I was working with atmospheric lighting in an indoor space, I did a fair amount of colour correction in post to bring out details in the shadows and make sure the tone I wanted was shown via the colour palette. In my camera bag
I love a 70-200mm canon zoom, 50mm sigma and a 18-40mm canon lens to go along with my canon 5d Mark ii. I love to be prepared for whatever subject is put in front of me.Feedback
Obviously when you visit a tourist attraction, you are amongst hundreds and thousands of people seeing the exact same subject. Use your photographers eye to find an angle or composition that feels as unique and original as you are. Everyone wants to take a holiday snap, but use the experience to be artistic - look for your lines, framing and think about colour as you compose. Move your body as well as your zoom and be patient.
