Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in Wood's High Mountain Distillery in Salida, CO. I was there shooting a friend performing and I looked up and saw this bike hanging there.

Time

This was late in the evening inside the distillery. It was winter and cold outside in this mountain town.

Lighting

Typical bar lighting. The lights hanging around it helped bring out the shape and the metal of the bike as well as the old wood beams it was hanging from. The star pattern of the lights were amazing even with the naked eye. I loved how the lights looked in the smoky room due the alchemy drinks they were serving.

Equipment

Shot with my Canon EOS Rebel T5. Aperture f/5?ISO 3200?Shutter 1/13?Focal Length 34/1. I was shooting pics of the performance so I was just mostly free form walking around at different positions. No flash and no tripod.

Inspiration

I just loved the way the bike looked hanging over us. This bar has a lot of unusual objects hanging around it and I just couldn't take my eye off it once I spotted it. The style and color and were so perfect against the wood beams and sparkle of the lights.

Editing

This one did not take much post processing. Just increased the exposure a bit since I did not use a flash on it.

In my camera bag

I always have my Canon EOS Rebel T5. I keep several lenses as well as a lense ball. This was taken with my standard 18-55mm. I keep a Tamron 100-400mm F4.5-6.3, Sigma 18-35mm 1:1.8 DC and a Tamron Macro 90mm F/2.8.

Feedback

My advice is when you see something interesting just take the pic. You never know what treasure will pop up. Always look at your surroundings and shoot it. Try different aspects of the subject, high or low sometimes I even get on the floor on my back and shoot straight up.
