Location
This photo was taken on the peak of Mt Ngungun, one of the Glass House Mountains.Time
I snapped this photo just after sunrise, we got to the peak about 30 minutes before first light which gave me a heap of time to prepare.Lighting
Most of the time I use whatever natural light is available. In this instance, the sun provided an amazing light so I used that to my advantage.Equipment
I can't exactly remember what I took up on the hike, but for this photo I used my Nikon D600 coupled with my trusty Tamron 24-70mm. It's what I mostly shoot with, since it has a good range of focal lengths for getting 90% of the shots that I want.Inspiration
Funnily enough, this picture wasn't the reason that we did the hike up to the peak. I had seen photos of the other Glass House Mountains that can be viewed from the peak, so my main aim was to capture them. Once daylight broke and the sun basked everything in it's golden glow, I thought that this would be a great picture as well.Editing
I do some work in Photoshop but it's very little - contrast, colour grading, stuff like that.In my camera bag
I've got a photography bag that holds my lenses, tripod, remotes, lights and spare batteries. It really helps to know what type of photo I want to capture before packing everything, especially going on a hike - otherwise I'm carrying a lot of heavy equipment that I may not need!Feedback
When it comes to anything involving landscape photography, it's always good to do a lot of research beforehand. Try to scout out places on Google or other media platforms, figure out what time sunrise or sunset will hit and always figure out the type of shot that you want to get - this will help to ensure that you leave with some decent photos and a good feeling of satisfaction!
