Location
I took the photo in Norway between the Sognefjord and Jostedalsbreen National Park in a small community called Veitastrond near the Austerdalsbreen glacier on a bridge over the Storelvi river.Time
It was during the day in July 2018, early afternoon.Lighting
It's all-natural light on a cloudy but nice summer day.Equipment
It's a long exposure shot with an ND filter on a Nikon D850, with a 24-120mm f/4 on a tripod. I took the picture at ƒ/10.0, 34.0 mm, 1/5 sec with ISO 64.Inspiration
My inspiration was the rocky formation with the river and the mountains and the glacier in the back and almost no houses. I looked for a nice nature spot trying out the ND-filter for the longer exposure and a silky river/waterfall.Editing
My usual post-processing procedure is to use Adobe Lightroom, import it, and develop a natural but crisp and clear look with a balanced blue and green tone. Some darker highlights, brighter shadows, clarity, something like that.In my camera bag
Usually, I am on tour with my Nikon D850 with my travel lens 24-120 mm f/4, but this Norway trip was something special. Shortly before the trip, I bought some ND filters (soft gradient, non-gradient) I wanted to try. Together with my tripod, it opened me to a new range of possibilities for my images.Feedback
Buy a good tripod and a small set of ND and polarizing filters. I especially prefer a soft gradient to darken one part of the image for long exposure shots. Formatt-Hitech is the company I prefer for those filters.
