Behind The Lens

Location

Budapest, Hungary on the side of a street next to the Chain Bridge.

Time

It's a night shot around 10 pm on a day in September 2017.

Lighting

The lightning is all coming from the illuminated bridge. I used long time exposure to get a milky effect on the water and to get enough light for the photos. This photo is an HDR image, a combination of three single images.

Equipment

It's a simple long time exposure with my Nikon D700, 24-120 mm f/4, on a tripod with no flash ISO 200, 38 mm, 5, 10, 20 sec, f/16

Inspiration

The Chain Bridge in Budapest is one of the iconic places of the city. As a young girl, I spent lots of time in town, and after coming back 25 years later, this place didn't lose his magic.

Editing

As usual, I did my post with Lightroom and combined three images to this HDR and did a little make-over. I decreased the exposure (-0.20), lowered the lights a bit, increased the shadows, added a bit more black and white, sharpened it, and reduced the noise a bit.

In my camera bag

My usual equipment was a Nikon D700 with a 24-120 mm, f/4.0 Nikkor lens until February 2018. Then I changed from D700 to D850. Often I also travel with a 50 mm, f/1.4 Nikkor lens as well as ND-Filters and a polarization filter, a tripod, and a remote for the long exposures.

Feedback

Try to find a safe spot along the street, use a wide angle lens and take some time for some shots with different angles.
