Location
These were small flowers in a pot in the garden. I had just bought a second hand macro lens and was outside scouting about for things to photograph.Time
It was around midday, early afternoonLighting
This is totally natural daylight. A beautiful day.Equipment
I used my canon 5d Mkii, hand held with the canon 100mm macro lensInspiration
It was the fact I had grown many of the flowers in the pot from tiny pot plants. I was so pleased they had grown so beautiful. I was taking photos of them all, but this one just had something special.Editing
A little post processing with the depth of shadows in levels but not too much.In my camera bag
I carry my full Frame Mkii canon 5d camera, canon flash, 50mm lens, 85mm 1.8 lens, 100mm macro and my 24 - 105mm canon lens. Also some lens cleaners and various flash cards.Feedback
When doing macro photography it’s necessary to have a steady hand. If not using a tripod, make sure shutter speed is fast or that you are resting the camera on something. I propped it on the pot to steady. I had wide open aperture 1.8 and just tuned everything in to suit. The light was good and the subject perfect. I took several shots but this was in my view the best.
