Location
This was taken right next to Praça do Comércio in Lisbon, walking around in the morning after a rainy nightTime
This was taken first thing in the morning, it was a rainy night and the day was slowly starting to clear up. The aftermath of the rain and minimal crowds at this time of day set up for a great pictureLighting
All natural lighting. This walkway has arches all along that set up for a great natural lighting setup. The contrast between the light coming in from one side and the old wall on the other makes for a nice contrastEquipment
I was carrying my Nikon D700 at the time with my 18-35mmInspiration
I got lucky to be in the right place at the right time, the combination of the water on the ground, nice architecture, and the people walking there right as I passed by was a coincidence. I was looking to take advantage of the rain puddles and happened to come across this sceneEditing
I did very minimal post-processing, primarily converting to black and white, fixing white balance, maybe fixing exposure a little bitIn my camera bag
I switched to mirrorless, so I now carry my Nikon Z6. I have the 24-70mm f/4, 14-30mm f/4, and I adapt my older 70-200mm f/4 f mount lens. I try to take all of these with me, however when traveling I often (unfortunately) leave the 70-200 behind. I do not use a tripod often, but have a Platypod I travel with to help with longer exposuresFeedback
Advise #1: travel when you can, I find it's easier to be inspired by new locations and sights. #2: always keep an eye out. I was fortunate to come across this scene at the right time. However, it's not only about pictures. The longer I've had my camera the more I try to get good pictures, but also take some time to take in the scene and enjoy where I am/what I am doing
