The history of this picture perfectly confirms that you never know at what point you will see an interesting scene. I saw a neatly dressed elderly man standing near the store clutching a package of medicines in his hand and approached the people asking for any help. I had a few minutes of free time. I immediately approached him and sat down nearby and just watched, thinking through the details of how I want to make a portrait, the size of the plan, composition, and came to the conclusion that it is necessary to approach as close as possible and to capture the emotions and look while maintaining maximum naturalness. So I set up the camera, walked up to him holding out a bill and immediately took a series of pictures for a few seconds. To explain why I photograph it, it was necessary later as it would affect this decisive moment of naturalness in the person. In the "staged photography" I choose characters who to some extent reflect my creative mood, these are the people I would like to tell through a narrative portrait. The characters of my shooting can also be people whom I met on the street, in a few seconds I made a photo transmitting a small story about them. Photogenicity does not play a key role for me. I try to reveal the state of their souls in people.Time
It was noon and the sun was very high helped me that the man stood in the shadow of the building.Lighting
For me, the perfect light is the soft daylight from the window, scattered by a not too dense curtain. With such soft lighting, details are well preserved in the light and shadows. It creates an atmosphere, volume and realism that cannot be conveyed by artificial light.Equipment
Canon 6d 50?? 1.4Inspiration
I use photo art as a way of knowing the world with my own view of things. I like to take pictures for myself and share my stories with people. The process of creating a photo itself brings me joy and inspiration to live. I try to convey the depth of a person’s personality and capture a piece of something not fake that I want to believe. Combine in a single frame documentary and artistic portrait with maximum realism.Editing
I like to shoot so that the frame looks initially good and basically I use only color correction. In my camera bag
Canon 6D and 6D mark 2, and lenses of 20.50 and 85 mm.Feedback
The main difficulties in creating such a portrait are that the photographer must shoot instantly and instinctively, within a few seconds, get in touch with a stranger and, after taking a few shots, reflect his personality. You need to pre-configure the camera, because you can not repeat the first reaction of a person, correcting the settings. In this case, it was easy to get in touch, because many people approached him. At first I made a frame without any explanation, because it could spoil the naturalness of the moment. The main criterion for a good portrait for me is that he is filmed about a real person with his story and conveys a certain idea from the author. This topic is interesting to me as an aspect of philosophy and psychology that I am trying to convey through photography. I create single shots with similar subjects into photo projects that should more fully disclose the chosen topic.
