Love everything about this picture - the light, the colors, the landscape, the movement and the story it tells!

Location
This photo was taken across the street from my house. There is a majestic view of the Pennsylvania hills and farmland there. I photograph this spot often.Time
I took this photo at sunset. Here in PA, with rolling hills and tall trees, sunset creates perfectly diffused lighting for portraits.Lighting
This was taken with natural light and the lighting in this was so fun to capture! My daughter ran into the field to pick flowers. (To the left of the frame is actually a large two car garage where the sun was setting.) When she was just beyond the garage, the light kissed her hair, leaving the rest of her body in the shadows. Love the result!Equipment
This was taken under natural light without any modifiers. I used my Nikon d700 (handheld) and my 105mm dc Nikkor lens.Inspiration
This was taken in the spring. I wanted sunset portraits in fields of flowers. I had actually taken a couple of my daughters to a field down the hill from our house and photographed them there first. On our way back home, I couldn't resist the warm, subtle lighting on these hills. So, I told my daughter to run into the field for one last shot. I couldn't be happier with the result!Editing
Yes, I usually post-process my photos. This is a great way for me to add unique artistic flare to my photographs. In this particular photograph, I adjusted the color, added my own sky-overlay, blurred the edges, and tweaked the contrast. In my camera bag
I am a Nikon girl at heart as well as a minimalist. I carry my Nikon d700 with my 105mm dc Nikkor lens usually attached. I have a Nikkor 50mm 1.8D lens and a SB-800 speedlight. I have worked with lighting systems and modifiers but find that I am better able to express myself through natural light.Feedback
This was a posed shot, but I would say, very loosely posed. I knew I wanted a shot of my daughter running through the fields with her flower basket; but how and what that was going to look like, I was leaving wide open. This is generally how I take portraits of children. I give them a basic task to perform, set my camera in continuous shooting mode, and snap several active photos of them in-the-moment. Even if my subject wants to do something a little different than my directive, I go with it. I'm often surprised with what kids come up with on their own!
