Location
This image was taken at a Place called "Grace Alone" in the Western Cape, South Africa. The property is is owned by a lovely South African old couple, and they hosts many high end Wedding there. Grace Alone is about 20km just outside of George and not far from George Airport if you want to fly in for a Destination Wedding. The Venue has a Castle and overlooking some water and beautiful Cape Mountains. Its great for a small Wedding party. The food is fantastic and the decor makes you feel like you are in a movie scene from the Victorian age or something. Its dark and moody, classic and dramatic. Probably my favourite Wedding destination as a Wedding Photographer yet.Time
I took this image late afternoon as the sun was going down.Lighting
A Photographer who loves to shoot in a natural light senario, i knew i had to look for places where i could make use of beautiful backrounds with some good natural light to bring out the best in those backrounds and to make my subjects striking. The light coming in from the side is drawing your eyes towards the Wedding couple much more effectively.Equipment
I shot this image with my Nikon D4SInspiration
The moody dark wood door was a great way to frame my wedding couple.Editing
Yes i did process the image to have a more dramatic lighting effect from the side which i enhanced a bit more using Allien Skin sun streak filter. I love to use Alien Skin as a way of ending my editing before exporting to my clients for download. In my camera bag
I use to shoot with Nikon gear but recently switched over to Canon after five years of shooting Nikon professionally. I have the Canon 5D Mark iii, The Canon 1DX Mark ii, the Canon 85mm 1.2, Canon 24-70mm 2.8, the Canon 50mm 1.2, Canon 70-200mm 2.8, Canon Macro 100mm, and the Canon Speedlight 600EX-RT.Feedback
Always make use of good natural light. It can be used in so many creative ways. Like behind your subject, on the side of the subject, etc. See the light like the saying goes. Its your piece of art. Have fun with it.
