Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken in a field with high grass on a September morning in the Aland islands, between Sweden and Finland. It had been a dew heavy night, and as the sun was rising, mist was rising from the fields, too.Time
It was early, just around sunrise so maybe 5am.Lighting
The low light, diffused and softened through the mist, was glistening in the water droplets. I wanted a back lit image, with a mysterious quality and beautiful bokeh from reflections in the background.Equipment
This was taken hand held with my Pentax K3 and the Tamron 90mm 2.8 macro lens.Inspiration
I was looking for the light in the water droplets, and started to discover that up close, the water droplets in cobwebs, on seed pods and the grass, came together sometimes looking like something completely different, like in this image where the seed pod with a dew drop to me looks like the head of a swan.Editing
This has been processed for color and luminosity, with a slight vignette added, but nothing more fancy than that.In my camera bag
I nowadays carry a Pentax K1II, with either the Tamron 90mm 2.8 macro or my Pentax 24-70 2.8. Apart from that, I always carry spare batteries and memory cards, and one of those garden knee/sitting pads. It has saved my knees and behind from getting wet so many times, and even worked as camera protection when placing the body on e.g. rocks.Feedback
You just need to get out early to catch the morning light, preferrably on a cold morning after a hot day when you'll have plenty of mist rising. The other thing to do, is to get down on the ground. Change perspective, look at the world from a frog's point of view. Look at the details, and get inspired!
