This pup came from one of our litters, she is 3-4 Border Collie and 1-4 Aussie. We love raising them and take great pride in spending a great deal of time with each pup so that they are very calm and loving and well socialized before letting them go to their new homes.

What I think is 'magnificent' about this capture is your perfect composition that depicts the gentle, loving hand of of an older male person and the totally receptive, affectionate and content look upon the face this very cute puppy. I love the detail in the hand. It shows age and experience of life well beyond the puppy's and it is a hand that has probably been engaged in physical work over the years. This in contrast to the innocence and potential vulnerability in such a young animal who obviously trusts and loves those who care for him/her. The slightly greater focus on the hand is well warranted from this perspective. Contrast, colour balance, exposure and depth of field show the details where they need to be seen. Its a beautiful image!

WOW Russ, you really touched both my husband and I with your ability to really see the true depths of this photo shows a lot of insight on your part. My husband was so surprised that you were able to see so much about him, which was spot on by the way, by really looking at his hand. I can't tell you how very much I appreciate your thoughts, it's incredibly helpful and I will keep all of your thoughts in mind in my future work! Thank you so very much Russ!

I like the connection with the subject and the location with the puppy giving a feeling of exploration and feeling safe and nurtured... Well done
