Location
Not far from the Riverside Walk in Detroit, Michigan.Time
It was early afternoon on a very cold day in January 2014.Lighting
Not about the lighting, but about the cold. It was FREEZING. About -25 CElsius (sorry no clue in Fahrenheit..but COLD). You could not stand being outside for very longEquipment
SONY NEX7 and kit lense (18-55). Nothing fancy. No tripod.Inspiration
The cold and the ruined buildings of the once wealthy city gave me, as a foreigner, a sense of despair. That said I loved Detroit, but seing ruined buildings like this right in the city center felt heartbreaking.Editing
I think I went through quite a few iterations of color grading for this one. I finally settled on this slightly desaturated look, as it mirrored the feeling I felt seeing it best.In my camera bag
Nowadays: SONY A7r2 - SONY f4 24-105mm G OSS, SONY f 1.8 55mm. Manfrotto Tripod.GOBE ND flter. Peak Design bags.Feedback
Wear warm clothes and visit Detroit. Good beer in Michigan, too ;)
