Location
The photo was taken in Parthenon, Nashville, USA.Time
It was afternoon on 19 September 2014. It was a lovely, sunny day and by then the sun was casting long shadows.Lighting
The first thing I noticed when we got there was the walkway with long shadows cast by the massive columns. I decided to photograph it in black and white as it's more dramatic.Equipment
I used my bridge camera, Olympus E-M5, hand-held.Inspiration
I love shadows and the contrast between light and dark, as well as patterns.Editing
I probably added more contrast but otherwise didn't do any post-editing.In my camera bag
It rather depends where I go and what I intend to shoot. I usually take my 12-50mm lens, as well as the telephoto lens 100-300mm. I always have a spare battery and memory card! I take my macro lens and the extension tubes if I photograph insects and flowers.I rarely take my tripod with me on long walks as it's heavy.Feedback
I'm just an amateur photographer and don't feel qualified to give advice. I can only say practise as much as you can, learn from your mistakes, notice why some photographs work and some don't, make note of the settings for future reference. Look at photographs taken by professionals but don't try to copy anybody. Just look around and observe.
