Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Riga at friend's wedding party.

Time

The time of the day was late evening in June. It was about half an hour after the sunset. The great thing about that evening was, that colors from sunset got more noticable and more contrasting.

Lighting

Most of the lightning, what I got was from sunset, street lights and water reflection. So, in this case, most of lighting was natural, as I didn't used any additional light.

Equipment

It was shot on Canon 7D with Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. No tripod used. Instead I used chair with stacked books.

Inspiration

While there was some free time at friend's wedding party, I took a walk around the place and I really liked the colors, what appeared after the sunset. So I tried to capture that moment on picture.

Editing

In this case, I didn't do any post processing.

In my camera bag

My basic kit is Canon 7D camera. Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lense. Canon EW-83H Lens Hood. Portable light reflector. Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT Flash and 4 additional AA batteries.

Feedback

The time is precious. Mostly the colors will stay for 10-20 minutes and then it will be gone, so You have to act very fast and already be having the result of image in Your head. Also I would suggest having tripod, as it makes easier to set view and angle. And another valuable thing is composition. It is important to have objects, building to complete the whole image and cooperation between environment and the main target, like in this example, it was colors of sky.
