Love the photo and the reflections off of the water. Just curious what city is that so I can go there and see alll those buildings since I love skyscrapers

Location
Marina Bay, Singapore, looking across the bay towards the Central Business District (in the picture).Time
late in the Blue Hour (about 7.30 pm).Lighting
From 7.15 pm to 7.35 pm the sky in Singapore passes through constantly evolving phases of blue in increasing intensity. I shoot constantly, bracketing the shots to get most out of the light. This shot is quite late in the sequence and so a longer exposure. The colours and light have just the right balance.Equipment
Canon EOS 5 Mark II. EF16-35mm f/2.8L II USM. Manfrotto Tripod.Inspiration
Urban planning leaves little to accident in Singapore. The skylines look good from certain places because that was the intention of the planners. A photographer can find one of these locations and just wait for the good light. There's a magic about the time during falling daylight when the lights in the buildings begin to show more clearly especially on busy weeknights when people work late. A relatively clear sky with a dynamic cloud formation adds to the magic. On a night like this everything falls into place.Editing
Just a matter of bringing the best out of the shots and merging three good ones for dynamic range, lowering highlights and raising shadows a bit in Lightroom, adjusting sharpness and presence. On this one very little else.In my camera bag
Camera, a couple of lenses, spare batteries and cards, remote. Sometimes just a camera and spare batteries and cards.Feedback
Find the ideal spot. Find out when the blue hour is at its best (in Singapore between 7.10 and 7.35 pm). The Sun sets in the West: point the camera in that direction. Come earlier in case you want some interesting sunsets with silhouette buildings. Try more than one occasion in the same spot as the light is never the same from one day to the next--not so inspiring one day, stunning the next.
