I love this photo! The little one on the table reminds me of my little one. Its very real. I love the old door (?) which I think might be there to keep the little one out of the kitchen. I can relate.

Behind The Lens
Location
I shot this in the living room looking into the dining room of my apartment.Time
It was about 8 in the morning on a Sunday and we were starting to get ready for church. My youngest had been up for a little while and had breakfast. My eldest is a more sluggish in the morning so he had just sat down to eat his breakfast. He's pretty picky and was going through a Pop Tart phase at the time.Lighting
The morning sun was bouncing off the parking lot outside and casting this really pretty white light into the dining room area.Equipment
My old Canon Digital Rebel XTi and a really cheap wide angle lens that I'd found on eBay for about $10 that unscrews to make a macro lens too.Inspiration
I was sitting on the couch, watching my little Ezra try to convince Joseph to give him a bite. He was making noises at him and smiling without success. He finally decided to stand on the table and stare him down. My oldest son wasn't convinced by any of it and little Ezra never did get his bite of Pop Tart.Editing
For this photo, I did a small amount of straightening, cropped the edges to remove the vignetting and adjusted the contrast and brightness slightly. I shot it in black and white already so I didn't have any color corrections to make.In my camera bag
With two rambunctious kids, I don't have the space for any extras. My lens cap was lost a long time ago and the wide angle lens I use can be converted into a macro lens too. I usually have a huge purse crammed full of diapers, receipts, a book or two and then my camera on top.Feedback
Don't fret about your gear. It's not the tool it's how the craftsman uses it. Have the patience to wait for the right moment, don't rush it. Just be in the moment. I find that I become more observant with a camera in my hand. I look at the small details, I notice things I normally wouldn't. The other day I was looking at an old picture of Joseph from when he was about four that I hadn't seen in a long time and I could remember how cold my feet were when I took it and how his room smelled then and how hard the floor was that I was laying on. That picture became a time machine that took me back to that day I shot it. Don't forget that you are capturing a moment in time that will never happen again. There will never be another day like today.
