Location
I followed this butterfly around my backyard for what seemed to have been like an eternity, hoping that it would soon rest long enough on a branch or a flower for me to get a good shot of it. Finally, I was rewarded for my patience and managed to capture this shot.Time
It was mid morning and with luck there was a windless day which made the task much easier.Lighting
-Equipment
I was using my Nikon D90 with an 18-300mm lens.Inspiration
Living in a semi rural town in South Western Sydney, Australia, where there are quite a lot of native trees,we tend to have a fair amount of all kinds of wildlife around which makes it ideal for nature photography, especially so in spring and summer when there are lots of insects, native birds etc..around. Sometimes, with luck we get the odd kangaroo and wallabies that venture into the back field.Editing
The original photo was in colour which I converted to Black & White. My post-processing work is normally done in Photoshop or Lightroom. In my camera bag
In my camera bag, apart from my camera of course, I carry my versatile 18-300mm lens and most of the time I also have my Macro lens, a spare battery, spare memory cards, cleaning cloth, note pad & pen.Feedback
I find that the most important things that are paramount in photography are Patience and Calmness . These two traits certainly apply to capturing any kind of flying insects...
