I took these photos at my home in Ohio. I have plenty of acres to do wildlife photography.Time
I took the moon shot obviously at night, I used a Nikon Coolpix 520, a brilliant super zoom camera, but have since updated about a year ago to the P610. The Vulture was flying above my head early in the afternoon, we get many Vultures flying around our house, or just sit in the trees or electric poles, beautiful birds.Lighting
Taking photos at night can be difficult. Controlling the aperture and shutter speed are the keys to getting a good shot. You can`t use a flash zooming in at night. Taking Vulture photos during the daytime, there is plenty of light.Equipment
I used a Nikon Coolpix P520 at the time, for the shots. I use a Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod with a Manfrotto 496 compact ball head.Inspiration
I love wildlife, I like the challenge of finding wildlife to take photos of. You have to have patience & sometimes have to creep around & be quiet to get what you want. Sometimes you can go outside & just see something & just get your shot, but have to be quick !! I love to get close to the moon, it`s very mysterious & alluring, it`s so amazing to see the craters. When I was a young child, I remember watching the first person to set foot on the Moon, Neil Armstrong, was brilliant. As for the Vulture, many fly around me every day, so I am intrigued & fascinated by them, they truly are amazing to watch & photograph, plus they eat the road kill & clean up !!Editing
I actually used "Photoshop" to combine the moon & vulture together. No other editing was needed. In my camera bag
Wow, what do I have in my bag ??!!! Now I use a huge bright orange Lowe pro Nova Sport35L AW bag with a pull out attached waterproof cover, with a Nikon D5000, Nikon lenses, 70-300mm, 55-200mm, 18-55mm. Nikon Coolpix 610, spare batteries, lens pen, lens cloths & wipes, filters & spare memory cards, oh & a torch.Feedback
I would recommend having patience & a really good tripod to get good shots. Try your best, enjoy the wildlife & views & remember that there is always another day to take photos.
