My home town too. Or at least where I grew up. Always great sunrise shots at Redcliffe.

Location
Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia - holds a special place in my heart as I grew up there and the jetty is an iconic landmark there.Time
This was taken on a cold (by Queensland's standards) winter morning as the sun was preparing to rise. 5:48 am. I love the colour of pre-dawn. It creates the most spectacular depth of colour.Lighting
I love low-light photography, especially in pre-dawn. This photo was all natural lighting on a longer exposure. I was fortunate enough to have the rays of sunlight emanating from behind the shelter which sits half-way along the jetty.Equipment
My grandson was out with me using my tripod so I used a Manfrotto pixie tripod and as it is so low I sat it on the top of one of the posts on the railing of the jetty. Little did I know that this added to the composition of leading lines and the colour and reflection in the top of the railing. I also used my Nikon D750 with my Nikkor 20mm f/1.8 prime lens which is a great one for catching detail in the foreground.Inspiration
I love sunrises and early morning photos - having grown up in Redcliffe, I was looking for something that spoke of the location and captured the sunrise as well.Editing
Yes - processed in Lightroom. I took the image as a RAW image with the ISO set really low at ISO 50 and the white balance set at 3300k. This allowed me to intensify the colours in post-processing in Lightroom (without going overboard with exaggerated colour). In my camera bag
It depends on what I'm shooting, as I have quite a few lenses now. I started off with just the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens which I used for a while. I then purchased the Nikkor 20mm f/1.8 lens. This opened up my creativity even further. Then I bought the Nikkor 1-5mm f/2.8 micro lens as I love experimenting with macro photography. My most recent purchases have been the AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR lens - which is a magic lens. Then I bought the 200-500mm f/5.6 lens - this is also a versatile lens. I do have a couple of tripods and use the Manfrotto quite regularly. I have bought a carbon fibre Sirui tripod with a pan and tilt head. Still trying to work that one out and waiting on another Manfrotto Ball Head that has a load capacity of 10kg. I like the flexibility of ball heads.Feedback
Pre-dawn offers the best colour and grades of intense blues, oranges and yellows. Getting familiar with camera settings and how to bring out the best in an image in Lightroom or your photo processing program is crucial in creating intense colour without going overboard. Many things combine to create a great image and I was fortunate that this one turned out so well.
