Behind The Lens
Location
It was taken at the Spectacles in Arches National Park.Time
I took the photo around 7:30pm.Lighting
The sun was directly behind me which light up the area quite nicely.Equipment
I was using a Canon 70D camera with a 18-35mm wide angle lens.Inspiration
The lighting was great and I got lucky to see the lone figure standing inside the arch. It really gave a emphasis to the size of the arch that someone who has never visited that location could appreciate.Editing
The photo was taken as a color shot but I decided to see what it looked like in black and white. I made the change while staying at home during the Covid pandemic as part of my stay-cation.In my camera bag
I carry two Canon cameras, 70D and 5D Mark IV. A tripod and a small selection of filters, ND and CP. For lens there will be the wide angle, a telephoto, and a standard lens.Feedback
Scout locations when ever possible for the type of photo you want to take. Plan for the time of day to shoot based on lighting and crowds, especially at National Parks. And most of all be patient, wait for the great shot and then shoot until your finger hurts.
