Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a local park - we went into a drainage that had colors that matched their hair!

Time

This was an evening shot, but on a fairly cloudy day.

Lighting

I wanted to pull the tones of their gorgeous coloring into the background so we dropped into tall bushes that had just turned their final red brown before dropping leaves.

Equipment

This was a Canon R with an 85mm lens and my eyes - observation and anticipation of a shot is the best equipment there is!

Inspiration

I was looking to place this father daughter duo in a location that played their amazing red hair! They have such a great bond and I wanted to capture them interacting - I asked the little girl to tell her dad a joke. I have NO idea what the joke was - but this was the response!

Editing

An action was run in photoshop to enhance color and contrast and smooth tones and that's it!

In my camera bag

I shot with a Canon R, a 50mm, 85mm and 24mm.

Feedback

Capturing relationships and playfulness has more to do with your attitude and fostering those responses. Connecting with your clients (especially children) allows them to open up and be playful back!
