You discovered something that nourishes your soul and brings you joy.
You make room for it in your life.
You adapt that new viewpoint and extend an unconditional love to yourself.
You slowly became brighter - bringing light to the world.
You made that happen because you accepted yourself.
You bloom and that is the fate you made.

This photo is taken at the rooftop of an apartment in Marikina City, Philippines. I thought it was a nice area to shoot at considering the sunset that will eventually give a beautiful glow - and at a really nice angle too. I just know I had to take a few shots in this specific rooftop area when I saw it.Time
Before the shoot day, I already knew I wanted my portraits shot during sunset. So me and my friends decided to meet hours before, around 2 in the afternoon. We shot different ideas beforehand but we started shooting this specific inspiration around 4:30pm, just about time when the sun started to emit a beautiful golden glow.Lighting
This one has been one of those moments where I literally just gone for it. My friends and I has been preparing the set and warming up beforehand - casually shooting other looks - while we wait for the sunset. ____ I was just casually looking for a space where any interesting light hits and saw this space. I thought that this specific spot looks so clean and simple. Just what I'm looking for.Equipment
I used a 2nd hand Canon 7D with Tamron 24-70 lens. It was a shot I just took in the moment when I saw a good lighting so it's all handheld, no complicated set-up or anything.Inspiration
The concept of this shoot has been in my head for years but life always seem to happen. Plus, I wasn't really able to wrap my head around the details of my idea so I kind of always push it back. ____ There's this one time, when I left a really toxic job, I realized that I am the only one who restrained myself all along. Almost always fearing that the idea might not look good or it might not turn out the way I imagined it to be. After meeting some super creative friends from our art community, I decided to plan this on a whim and give it a go. No turning back now! ____ From the powerful feeling I felt after leaving the said toxic job to the new photography-related learning and inspiration I acquired, I finally did it. ____ This photo is one of my biggest inspiration and comeback to do photography. After doing the things I love again - photography and painting - I saw myself change slowly. My ideas got clearer and I'm more than happy to push myself this time, hence this "Faith on Fate" set. ____ This is one of my faves because it is a reminder (for myself) that everything happens for a reason. If I never felt so disheartened shooting, I'll never learn how to be better in photography and photo editing. Extending love to myself became one of the things that made me bloom and that choice is the fate I made for myself. I might not be as good yet but I surely felt way better about myself now than before.Editing
Yes! I used Adobe Lightroom to stir this photo's feel. I lightened the shadows, desaturated the skin tone, lessened contrast, and made it softer. Oh! I also extended the orange wall at the back and colored the sky a bit more blue to get blocks of color pointing towards the subject. In my camera bag
If I have shoots, I usually have my camera and lens, cleaning tools, sticky tack, extra batteries and charger, extra CF cards, flash triggers (with or without flash just to make sure), external flash with extra batteries, couple of external hard drives, sometimes laptop and my small fold-able tripod if there's a food or product shoot, phone and portable powerbank.Feedback
First, look to where the light falls. There are so many places like this one but if the light falls weirdly on the face of your subject, you might have to adjust a bit or just try to be creative around it. ____ Second, best if you look for places with clean or plain walls. Clean, crispy, bold colors will work too! I love clean or nearly clean backdrops because it easily directs your eyes to the subject. ____ Third, always read or watch photography or art-related stuff. Sometimes, I get my inspiration from paintings or colors from other shots I see or even interior designs and styling. Inspiration is all over so don't you stop observing and appreciating all the little details around you. ____ Lastly, apply your style in all your shots. I know everyone has a different taste. If you copy this look to the tiniest detail, it might or might not work with your style/vision. I suppose, make sure to always apply your own personality in it and don't ever forget that. A personal touch is way cooler than just plain copying. *wink*
