I took this photo at PCCI Learning Center studio, a school in which I took a class related to photography.Time
We are experimenting with different lighting indoors but I think this was taken around afternoon. Just used a bare bulb here.Lighting
I was experimenting with different lighting with this photo. Usually, I use natural lighting or studio strobes with modifiers. For this image, I used a bare bulb. But I wanted this image to look as if it's morning so I just used different reflectors (such as foil and paper) and adjusted them to whichever the light seems more interesting.Equipment
I used Canon 7D with 50mm lens, tripod, bare bulb, assorted-sized reflectors, boards for gobo, extra coffee beans, burlap cloth, and a simple cup.Inspiration
I wanted to experiment taking photos any time of the day that looks like it's taken in the morning or within the golden hour. So in this project, I tried my best to imitate the effect of natural light.Editing
Yes. I cropped this photo a bit so the coffee would fill more of the frame than the beans or cloth. I also color corrected and removed unwanted stains using Lightroom. In my camera bag
I always pack my 2nd hand Canon 7D body and Tamron 24-70 whenever I feel like shooting. Also making sure that I bring my spare batteries, CF card, card reader, and cleaning kit around. If I have formal shoots for food or products, I make sure to bring a tripod and extra flash triggers.Feedback
Try to experiment as much with different lighting. Use reflectors to bend light and create more story or depth in the image. Plus, always use a tripod for still shoots! :3 I'm not sure what more can I say but just keep shooting!!! Every photo we take has a story behind and it is more fun to reminisce them when we are able to improve and provide a better one than the last.
