Behind The Lens
Location
The photograph was taken in La Albufera (Valencia-Spain). The Albufera is a Natural Park formed by a coastal lagoon that is surrounded by rice fields. It is an ideal space to take photographs. Every day, in magical hours you can find many photographers capturing these moments with their cameras.Time
The photo was taken around 8pm in February. That hour corresponded to the sunset. Many people gather at the piers and observe this moment. The lagoon provides magical colors in all its sunsets.Lighting
I din´t use external light elements. I only took advantage of the light of the sunsets. I shooted my camera backlit to get silhouettes of a couple that I putted this couple on the edge of the jetty. I took advantage of some diagonal lines left by the pier and the couple placed it in a third of the photograph. It was, the composition that I created and thought at this moment.Equipment
I used a Canon 6d camera, with a 70-200mm telephoto lens. The focal length used was 70mm, with an ISO 1600, diaphragm f4.0 and a speed of 1 / 10sec. They are not the perfect parameters but the couple moved a lot and didn´t have time to change.Inspiration
I really was not inspired by anything but when I revealed the photograph I thought about the romanticism that it generated. Intensify some magentas colors and I thought about the title of the photograph that could be POST SANVALENTINEditing
The post-processing is very basic. It only has an intensification of magenta colors in LR, lowering of high lights and lifting of shadows. In PS, only a focus process was made by frequency separation and a textures survey in the leftovers with a NIK filterIn my camera bag
My equipment is quite heavy. I have a very large backpack, Vanguard Alta Sky 51D A tripod of the same brand, Vanguard ALTA PRO 263AB 100 My Canon 6D camera with several Polarized filters, 3 ND filters, 3 ND graduated filters and a filter holder. The lenses that I have are: CANON 50mm f1.8 CANON 17-40 f4 IRIX 15mm f.2.8 TAMRON SP 70-200 f2.8 I also charge a flásh with a portable reflector. For night photography I use other materials such as Flashlights color gels another flash and other things that I can think of, depending on the moment.Feedback
The best advice I can give is playing with the silhouettes. Many times, when we arrive at a sunset, we want to capture moments but we forget what a photograph changes when we include a human element. It is photography without those people, with an empty pier and a perfect light would not have transmitted any emotion. All photography must process us something. For very good light that we have or very spectacular that is the moment. Sometimes, we have to stop, think and look for a good composition that transmits sensations. A good option is to include yourself in the photograph. Use a tripod, a trigger and place yourself, if you have no other possibility. I really like to include people in all the compositions because it increases the sensations that we can process. Both romanticism, grandeur, size, sadness, anything ...
