Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is taken in the Meiji Shrine, located in Shibuya, Tokyo. We were walking around and saw this guy clearing the way for a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony. He was very serious doing his work, his face was very serious and so were the movements to make the way.

Time

It was a hot September day, and the light was very harsh. The time the photo was taken was around midday.

Lighting

I was lucky enough not to have the harsh sun in his face. So I knew that the man's features would come out beautifully.

Equipment

Shot with Canon 5d Mark IV, Aperture: f/7.1, ISO: 640, Shutter Speed: 1/2000, Focal Length: 135mm

Inspiration

When I saw the seriousness way he took his job I knew I wanted a portrait with some bokeh. Took my longer lens to get the face without coming too close.

Editing

In lightroom I applied a black and white high contrast preset. Then adapted the sliders to my taste. I wanted to get the seriousness and age coming out.
